At Montana Knife Company, we’ve made a name for ourselves designing compact hunting knives meant for ultralight packing. With the Super Cub, we’ve broken our own mold and gone big. Measuring 10″, the Super Cub is our longest and strongest hunting blade, capable of taking on any job you encounter in the field — from field dressing, gutting, and deboning to fieldcraft tasks like chopping and batoning wood.
The Super Cub knife is designed to withstand the toughest environments. It takes its name from the Piper Super Cub airplane, known for transporting hunters and adventurers to the most remote backcountry locations. For any situation a Super Cub plane can put you in, the MKC Super Cub can get you out.

Was a long time stalker of MKC and decided to finally pull the trigger on one and that was the best decision I made. Truly a workhorse champion of a knife, adapts to any situation you put it in from food prep to deboning bull elk without missing a beat or even flinching. When you first take it out of the box you can immediately feel that every single single thing is taken into account. Absolute stellar American craftsmanship all in one mean package.

Wonderful knife. 5 star with the steel and materials alone. I’m a fan of large knives, and I’d like to see more large knives in the MKC lineup.
The finger guard and handle are comfy as heck, not too thin, not too fat. The drop point shape is a welcome tough configuration, as well.
One knock I’ll give is for the large sharpening choil. I don’t know why it’s that large, but I’ve gotten stuff caught in it while working. It has been a nuisance compared to your other knives. The mule deer looks like it has the best (forward sloping) sharpening choil design, along with the small but functional choils on the flattail, Stubhorn, triumph pro, and the tactical models. I haven’t gotten anything caught in any of these models, and they work seamlessly.
It’d be sweet to see a SuperCub with an updated smaller and/or sloped sharpening choil. As long as I’m on the subject, it’d be nice to put on a lanyard hole like the flattail or Stubhorn, and add the classic MKC jumping, as well.
Still, I’ve been really enjoying this knife and using it in my every day carry rotation.

Honestly, I was nervous about this purchase, given I’ve never paid over $200 for any knife. But man, does MKC live up to the hype. Packaging was awesome, the kydex sheath is second to none. The handle is very ergonomic and provides enough surface area to grab to handle large tasks without feeling too chunky. The blade came stupid sharp. I felt it immediately as I didn’t waste time testing it out on nearby scrap paper. I was so impressed, I immediately grabbed my edc knife, favorite kitchen knife, and my (now replaced) hunting knives to test out on paracord. This knife blew them all away, slicing through the paracord cleanly and without any resistance. I’ll have the opportunity to clean and skin some animals with it soon, and I’m so excited to use this instead of the old knives that used to be in my hunting pack. It definitely won’t be my last MKC knife.

You can tell a lot of thought goes into these knives, and the kydex sheath is top notch. So many knife companies skimp on the sheath but not MKC. The SuperCub will be a great backcountry blade but not too heavy for the backpack.
